Huawei (China) - Press Release: Huawei Digital Power, a Huawei's business unit focused on photovoltaic energy generation and storage solutions, has become the first company in the world to receive the highest security certification for Energy Storage Systems (ESS), granted by TÜV Rheinland, a German institution and global leader in standardization and testing systems. The ceremony took place at the end of December in Shenzhen, China, with representatives from both organizations present.
The LUNA2000-4472 and LUNA2000-215 solutions were recognized by TÜV Rheinland with the Prime level certificate, the highest in the ESS security classification. This recognition highlights Huawei's ability to set security standards in the sector, ensuring intrinsic protection in critical energy storage operations.
According to Weichun Li, Vice President of Global Power Electronics and General Manager of Solar and Commercial Products in China at TÜV Rheinland, the achievement of Huawei Digital Power represents a significant milestone for the energy industry worldwide. "By continuously improving security technologies, we help the industry grow sustainably. Our partnership with leading companies like Huawei allows us to establish standards that promote high-quality development in the sector," he emphasized.
TÜV Rheinland established a three-level security classification, evaluating compliance with basic standards to the ability to prevent catastrophic failures:
Level 1 (Basic): compliance with minimum standards for market entry;
Level 2 (Plus): enhanced protection against thermal and environmental failures;
Level 3 (Prime): prevents the spread of thermal failures, even in extreme scenarios, ensuring system integrity and the safety of operators and the environment.
Steven Zhou, President of Huawei Digital Power's Smart PV & ESS Product Line, highlighted the technological achievement as another step forward in the energy transition. "With the rapid growth of the energy storage sector, traditional standards are no longer enough to ensure sustainable development. The Prime certification reflects Huawei's leadership in security, an essential factor for the future of clean energy solutions," he analyzed.
"Receiving this certificate is both an honor and a responsibility," he continued. "Huawei is committed to achieving zero fires, zero explosions, and zero failure propagation. We continually invest in intrinsic safety to lead the sustainable development of the energy storage industry," he emphasized.
With this achievement, Huawei Digital Power strengthens its position as a leader in secure, efficient, and reliable energy solutions, contributing to building a more sustainable future.
